The MASTERS



The MASTERS is a comprehensive assessment tool consisting of several components including: a McCarronDial Vocational Systems Evaluation, social/life and transitional skills evaluation, situational assessment(s),interviews with relevant persons (teachers, parents, etc.)and student observation in a variety of settings. In addition to the McCarron Dial the following assessmenttools are utilized;

Perceptual Memory Tasks (PMT)
This test consists ofsix activities that assess memory functions. This informationis useful in determining an individual’s learning style, formulating appropriate teaching strategies and planning vocational programs.
Wide Range Interest Opinion Test (WRIOT2)
This test consists of 238 two-picture groupings depicting a variety of occupations from which an individual indicates whether or not he/she likes the job, dislikes the job oris undecided. The results are compared and job clusters determined.
School Social Skills (S3) Assessment
This test is acriterion-referenced instrument that yields knowledge of a student’s social strengths and deficiencies. The S3 is designed to assist in identifying student deficits in school-related social behaviors in the areas of:adult relations, peer relations, school rules and classroom behaviors.
Transition Planning Inventory (TPI)
This test is an instrument for identifying and planning for the transitional needs of students. It is designed to provide school personnel a systematic way to address critical transition planning areas that are mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 2004 and that take into account the individual student’s needs, preferences,interests, and strengths.
Checklist of Adaptive Living Skills (CALS)
This test is ameasure of adaptive living skills. CALS may be used todetermine the specific skills an individual has mastered or needs to master organized into skill modules in four broad domains: Personal Living Skills, Home Living Skills,Community Living Skills, and Employment Skills.

Situational Assessment
The situational assessment consists of an on-the-job evaluation in one of MSEC’s community-based job sites. This portion of the evaluation provides the opportunity for an individual to use their skills in a real job situation. The student’s abilityto apply skills to real life situations is observed.

A MASTERS assessment typically consists of 5 consecutive days (consecutive days preferred but can be segmented ifneed be). The cost for this assessment is as follows :

Out of District $1343.00
Attendance at Team Meeting $90.00
Out of District $105.00
Following the evaluation, a report will be generated providing detailed information regarding the student’s strengths, aptitudes, and interests as well as suggestions and recommendations for remediation/transition.The evaluator will also be available for consultation, orto attend meetings.
